It's Time for Courageous Leadership
Hello!
I’m a lifelong resident of South City, graduating from Ponderosa Elementary, Alta Loma Middle School, and South San Francisco High School.
During my childhood, a close family member sustained a traumatic injury and passed away 10 years later. That experience motivated me to study Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology with Government at Harvard University and conduct neuroscience research at Massachusetts General Hospital.
I began my education with the motivation of my family, but today I wish to use it to empower and improve the lives of those around me.
I love South City, and that’s why I’m going to fight for it. We are facing an unprecedented economic and public-health crisis, and our City Council needs courageous leadership. As your councilmember, I will fight for rental and mortgage payment assistance for residents during the coronavirus pandemic. I will address climate change, improve public safety, encourage affordable housing, establish universal Pre-K, invest in our community’s infrastructure, and combat all forms of hate and racism.
I stand with unions and the working class of South San Francisco, and will fight for the rights of all workers. I do not accept money from private developers, fossil fuel companies, or corporations. I will prioritize honesty, transparency, and accountability.
I’d be honored to have your vote.
Thank you,
James

I have witnessed James Coleman’s leadership firsthand in 2016 through his devotion to local projects that are towards environmental justice, and racial equity, and social justice. I am confident that James’ intentions reflect the needs of South City as a diverse, multigenerational, and multicultural community. If there is one huge factor that distinguishes him from the rest of the other candidates, it would be the fact that his actions are guided by the attributes of honesty, empathy, and compassion.

Mr. Coleman possesses the willingness to listen to working-class residents, the creativity necessary for principled solutions, and the determination necessary to cooperate with others. It’s time for a change, and I’m glad that a product of our public schools is stepping up to make that change.
